If you are planning an innovative project, which increases the skills and knowledge of your workforce and improves the quality of your service, take a look at the priorities for this year’s Workforce Development Innovation fund to find out if your organisation is eligible to apply.
Organisations will need to address one of four priorities with their innovative project, which are outlined below.
Applications will close at 1pm on 28 June 2019.
Late applications will not be accepted.
Key priorities for 2019-20 WDIF
Priority 1: To test an approach to develop capacity for Registered Nurses to support and supervise pre-registration nursing associates and return to practice nurses, within an ethical and safe learning culture (Please note: Skills for Care will accept partnership applications only for this priority).
Priority 2: Enhance the impact of your registered manager network.
Priority 3: developing future registered managers: supporting deputies and aspiring managers to progress.
Priority 4: improve the working practices between social care and health workforces in support of integrated working.

Please email your completed application form to Innovation.WDIF@skillsforcare.org.uk by 1pm on Friday 28 June 2019. Please include your organisation name in the email subject line.
Please note that only one application may be submitted per organisation.
Project Outcomes
All projects funded via WDIF must demonstrate that consideration has been given to the scalability, transferability and sustainability of the project.
All projects funded via WDIF must also:
- Deliver demonstrable business benefits and service quality improvements
- Deliver tangible resources or products which are developed and tested as part of the project, and provide these to us when the project ends
- Result in an evaluation report which describes the project approach and lessons learned from delivery and a case study.
All resources produced need to be written in an accessible format so they can be used by other employers and for a range of service types within the sector. We will support the dissemination of the information to the wider sector. Case studies and resources from previous WDIF projects can be found on Learn from Others or on the WDIF section of the Skills for Care website.
Where projects include Health and Social Care qualifications or non-accredited learning programmes delivered under licence by our endorsed providers, it will be necessary to meet the Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS) requirements for WDIF. Currently known as the National Minimum Data Set for Social Care (NMDS-SC), this online data collection service is being updated and will be known as the ASC-WDS.
If you’re making an application and intend to deliver learning to third party organisations, meeting these requirements is applicable to those third party organisations who will be accessing the learning.
