if you are using NHSMail but do not have multi-factor authentication (MFA) set up, you will lose access to NHSMail and any associated Microsoft 365 services on 26th March.  This is because NHSE are making MFA mandatory on all accounts to protect the system from increased security risks. To avoid losing access, it is recommended that you enable your MFA as soon as possible if you have not done so already

If you are not already enrolled for MFA by 26th March 2025:

  • All users, including the national helpdesk managed social care users, who have not already enabled MFA, will lose access to NHSMail and all associated Microsoft 365 services until it is implemented
  • Users will be prompted to enrol when they next log in to NHSmail or any other Microsoft 365 resource, following the change date.
  • Communications will go out to all affected accounts directly in the coming months, to alert and inform users of the change beforehand.

Information and guidance on how to enable MFA are available on the NHS.net connect support site pages via the following link: Getting Started with MFA – NHSmail Support
