We understand that some people are struggling to get LFT’s through the usual routes. Demand is extremely high currently, driven by changes to self-isolation and daily testing of close contacts policies. If you are a provider that would usually access tests through the government portal, then please call 119. If they are not able to assist, then please note the call reference number and then email it through to the HCPA provider hub so the local authority can escalate with the Department of Health
For other social care providers, we are escalating to DHSC around the need to prioritise access for front line social care workers. In the meantime, please continue with your usual routes, online portal through pharmacy collect or from your local library. More stock is being made available. If you do not have enough LFT’s to get you through your next round of regular testing and have tried all alternative methods, then please escalate to the provider hub and the local authority will try and assist.
When ordering tests make sure you are planning ahead especially at this time, when we know that some tests may be delayed coming to you
This is just for clarification as we have had a few queries…
Please note that:
- PCR tests (the test you send-away or attend at drive-through centres) are required whenever anyone has symptoms of COVID. The main symptoms of COVID being a new continuous cough, a high temperature, or loss of smell/taste.
- Lateral Flow Device testing should only be used for those without symptoms.
Note 1 – There are several other symptoms linked with COVID-19. These may have another cause and are not on their own a reason to have a COVID-19 test. If you are concerned about your symptoms, seek medical advice.
Note 2 – Those who have received a positive PCR test result in the last 90 days should not re-test by PCR within this 90-day period.
