Half day course at HCPA Campus
Course description:
HCPA deliver Prevention and Enablement education for Care Providers in Hertfordshire, including Care Homes, and Homecare. This education was originally developed with support from AHPs and Social Workers across the system, to encourage and embed enabling care across Care Services, and to ensure consistency between what we are teaching and what Care Providers are told in the community.
We would like to offer a FREE CPD opportunity to all OTs, Physios and TIs, from all services across county, who support individuals who receive care.
The aim of this session is to inform our partners about some of the main themes we cover in the HCPA Prevention and Enablement Training. This includes the Enabling and Mobility Champion for those who work in Elderly Care, and the Enabling and Posture Champion for people who work in ADS, as well as the Moving and Assisting Train the Trainer course, and the Bed Care Prevention and Management of Contractures course.
The CPD session will make you and your teams aware of what the care staff are learning on these courses, to ensure they are working in line with what we have taught them, and one of the main themes therefore will focus on Therapeutic Handling techniques e.g. for Sit to Stand, Mobility Practice, Lie to Sit and Posture and Tone Management.
It will also be a great opportunity for you to discuss and give feedback on the techniques, so that we are all on the same page!
We feel it will be beneficial to the care staff who have been on the training to be supported by Community Therapists and partners who recognise them and positively reinforce their enhanced skills, helping them to maintain their enthusiasm.
Additionally, your teams will benefit from the increased skill and knowledge levels of staff that have been trained, and these members of staff will be points of contact for you when you visit a provider.
Following your attendance, we will provide you each with an updated list of all the current Champions and where they work.
