The Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate is an ideal next step for care staff who have completed a thorough induction and have at least six months of experience in the care sector.
The qualification is designed to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for working in adult social care settings.
Its objectives include:
• Enhancing the knowledge and skills of the workforce.
• Improving portability to reduce the need for repeat training and assessment when staff change roles.
• Ensuring the workforce demonstrates the expected knowledge, skills, and behaviours in the adult social care sector.
• Helping care staff feel recognised, valued, and supported.
• Providing the workforce with the resources required to deliver safe and effective care.
• Creating rewarding career pathways with opportunities for development and progression.

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to achieve 15 units.

• Privacy and dignity in adult social care settings

• Infection prevention and control (IPC)
• Awareness of learning disability and autism

This qualification involves attending eight workshop sessions, all of which are mandatory, to guide learners in demonstrating their knowledge, skills, and behaviours, ensuring they successfully achieve their qualification.
Learners are required to complete and submit coursework as part of this qualification, in addition to being observed in the workplace. It is the joint responsibility of the learner and their manager to ensure authentic coursework is submitted within the timeframes specified by the Tutor/Assessor.
Progress review meetings will be held with both the learner and their manager to support timely progression.

What are the entry requirements?
• Prospective learners must have completed a comprehensive induction and mandatory service training.
• They should possess a strong command of the English language (e.g., Level 1).
• An initial assessment must be submitted by each learner.
• Additionally, the learner’s manager will be required to attend a one-hour virtual onboarding session to understand the expectations for both the learner and employer support.
