Getting safeguarding right and the legal obligations for providers

Safeguarding means protecting the right of your clients to live in safety, and free from abuse or neglect. But what does this mean, and what as providers are your legal obligations?
Regulation 13 of the Health and Social Care Act states that providers must have a zero-tolerance approach to any form of abuse, unlawful discrimination and restraint.

It is important to ensure that you as providers have the proper procedures and processes in place to prevent anyone using your service from experiencing any form of abuse or improper treatment or care that significantly disregards their needs.

During this network event we will take a closer look at safeguarding. Some of the topics we will be covering include:.
• Instilling confidence in Managers in relation to reporting (and not reporting) safeguarding concerns.
• Company policy vs Hertfordshire’s safeguarding process (Head Office issue) / alongside care planning.
• Risk assessments: Remembering to document and action.
• Falls, and the safeguarding process
• Pressure care, and the safeguarding process.
• Safeguarding legalities including employment.

We will also have our usual updates from Hertfordshire County Council, as well as our Strategic Partners on hand to speak with you.

Places at this event are limited to two per member, so please reserve your place early to avoid disappointment.

As this is a catered event, a fee of £50.00 will be charged for any non-attendance. You can cancel up to 48 hours before the event and a waiting list will be created for those who have not secured an early place.
