Join us for a comprehensive 4–day Champion Course designed for activity leads in care settings.
This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to create and implement meaningful and effective activities tailored to the needs of those in your care. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical application, you will become a champion in delivering person–centred, outcome–focused care activities.
Entry requirements:
Attendees must have completed the Care Certificate or equivalent & must be in a current role that involves activity planning within a care setting.
Expectations of being a Champion are as follows:
• Share knowledge to staff through team meetings, mentoring and coaching
• Gain topic specific knowledge
• Keep up to date with resources and support via the HCPA Members Zone
• Take responsibility to champion the topic area to ensure the care provider meets best practice standards
• Build strong relationships with professionals
• Support “Better outcomes for the individuals you support” for topic area
• Review Governance of the topic including reviewing and update policies and procedures to meet standards
• Attend yearly CPD and complete reflective accounts to enable revalidation
Selecting your Champion
To help you select your chosen Champion, they will need to:
1. Be a member of staff with authority to mentor staff and work with external partners
2. Have enthusiasm and dedication to promote best practice in the organisation and action change
3. Be committed to multi-disciplinary working, both internally and externally
4. Have confidence and strong communication skills to share information with staff teams via team meetings
5. Have the ability to critically review current governance processes for the topic area
Learning Outcomes:
• SMART Goal Setting–Practice setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time–bound goals to enhance care outcomes.
• Sensory Activities & Problem–Solving–Engage in hands–on sensory activities and learn problem–solving techniques to improve daily support.
• Cultural Awareness in Activities-Discover how to incorporate cultural considerations into care activities for more personalised engagement.
• Budgeting & Tracking Resources–Learn to manage and record activity–related spending effectively, ensuring sustainable care practices
