One day course at HCPA Campus
This course, for staff working in Homecare & Supported Living settings, will support delegates to understand the importance of good communication in fostering trust and cooperation, recognise and address common barriers, and identify conversational cues and facilitative techniques. Delegates will learn how to be prepared to handle difficult questions with effective strategies, manage the emotions of those they care for and their families, and prioritise self-care and team support to ensure a healthy, productive work environment.

Learning objectives:
• Understand the importance of good communication
• Recognise common barriers to communication, and identify blocking behaviours
• Identify cues and how they may be picked up in conversation and have an awareness of facilitative techniques
• Identify strategies for applying facilitative techniques when faced with difficult questions
• Identify emotions commonly experienced by people, with strategies for managing them
• Identify the importance of looking after self and team

Bookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.
