Chair Based Exercises include a range of seated exercises that can be adapted to an individual’s abilities or goals. You will also understand the impact of ageing and the importance of a person-centred approach when planning exercise sessions.
Chair Based Exercises have been shown to have a positive impact on maintaining and promoting independence and mobility in older people and be a stepping stone towards reducing falls.
This qualifications is predominantly for Care Home and Flexi-Care staff caring for elderly residents to enable them to carry out group and personal exercise within the service, however, it can also be valuable for Community and/or Homecare Staff.
Learning objectives:
• Know how to plan an evidence-based exercise class
• Know how to make safe, effective adaptations to allow all individuals to take part
• Understand the impact of aging and the importance of person-centred planning
