Volunteers are trained by Peace Hospice Care and then matched with a local community member based on hobbies, interests and geography in the hope to grow genuine friendships.

Isabel Hospice – Broxbourne, Welwyn, Hatfield and East Herts
We match local people to form meaningful and reciprocal friendships based on shared interests, hobbies and experiences. We also run a number of social groups and bubbles to connect those lonely and isolated to the wider community.
We accept referrals for anyone over the age of 18 who would like to increase their social interaction and is able to maintain a reciprocal friendship.

Garden House Hospice- North Herts and Stevenage
Compassionate Neighbours are trained volunteers offering friendship and a listening ear to people living in their community. Compassionate Neighbours will visit you weekly and take you out if you wish, or just stay in and have a cup of tea and a chat. There is no charge.

Additionally Rennie Grove – St Albans has a Supporting Hands Service
Our Supporting Hands service offers supportive companionship, including practical and emotional assistance to our patients and their carers. The Supporting Hands service is available both to our patients with a life-limiting illness and their carers. We use a person-centred approach to focus on the individual’s personal needs and can provide support both at home and on trips out.
Please note this service is only available for patients of Rennie Grove Hospice.
