In August, the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman became a signatory to the ‘Emerging Concerns Protocol’. This enables health and social care regulators to share information that may indicate risks to people who use health and care services, their carers, families, or professionals.
The protocol aims to help regulators make decisions about how and when to escalate concerns to other organisations. It does not replace their pre-existing information sharing protocol with the Care Quality Commission.
