In collaboration with HCC and software developers OLM Systems Limited, we have developed Herts Care Search (previously known as Herts Care Home Finder) in a bid to help to reduce delayed discharges from hospital into care homes.
Herts Care Search is a new web-based booking system that provides live information about all care home availability in the local area. The system was developed after carrying out research with patients, carers, care homes, health colleagues and HCC, and can be used to search for and book care vacancies based on location, availability, bed type (such as residential, specialist dementia care providers, respite care etc), length of stay and pricing bands.
The aim of the system is to streamline processes and allow us to respond quickly to patient’s needs in a more efficient way. It will not replace the essential assessments and checks surrounding a patient’s placements into a care home however, it will reduce the time spent phoning around to look for a suitable bed. This should make it much easier for staff to plan care packages.
The system is now open to the public, for them to carry out their own research and find a suitable care home for themselves or a loved one. HCPA members can register and upload their profile and vacancies Fully Funded and now is the perfect time to attract new clients as the system is attracting media attention, and is likely to generate more care searches.
