The National Care Forum (NCF) recently published a story that calls for more support for people with sight loss living in care homes.

In 2014 The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) stated that almost half of the 400,000 older people who live in care homes have some form of sight loss and require extra support.

Understandably, sight loss can impact negatively on a service user’s quality of life, but in some instances it isn’t always easy for service users to visit an optician or attend appointments independently.

To help address this, our partner Optician offers Fully Funded NHS eye tests in an environment that suits your service users, whether that’s in their own home or at the care home, so you can make sure that your service users have easy access to the support they need.

Additionally, they can offer Fully Funded Optical Awareness training to you and your staff, so you can feel confident that you know what to look out for.

If you would like to book a Fully Funded NHS eye test for your service users or Optical Awareness training for your staff just get in contact with us on 01707 536020 or email services@hcpa.info.
