Please refer family Carers you come across within your client groups in the community – Carers in Hertfordshire in partnership with Citizens Advice in Hertfordshire are now offering the Carer Money Matters service.
The support is free and is primarily for carers and/or households where there is a carer. Being a carer can mean having to juggle a number of different day-to-day tasks, managing caring around work and it can bring worries for the future. Caring for someone can also mean additional costs.
The service offers two types of support:
- Energy and money workshops for groups –Workshop are available in-person and/or online and cover topics including:
- Latest information on all things energy including the energy price cap, tariffs, fuel debt, energy saving ideas and the Priority Services Register.
- Top tips on boosting a household income, reducing the cost of living and avoiding scams
- Key current issues such as the Winter Fuel Allowance, Pension Credit and carbon monoxide safety.

- One-to-one support on energy, money and debt. This support is to ensure the carer, or the household, is accessing all the support available to them. The support available includes:
- Benefit checks and information on how to apply for any benefit identified
- Ways of maximising the household income
- Energy advice
- Information on how to deal with debts – a referral to a debt caseworker for ongoing support may be necessary.
- Production of financial statement of income and expenditure
- Review of grants available, including emergency grants
