One day course at HCPA Campus
This comprehensive course will provide participants with a thorough understanding of both catheterisation and stoma care. By the end of the session, participants will recognise the anatomical structures of the urinary system and understand the NMC Code of Conduct related to catheterisation. They will discuss male and female urethral catheterisation and gain awareness of caring for suprapubic catheters. Additionally, participants will identify different structures of the GI tract, understand the various types of stomas, and learn why stomas may be needed. The course covers essential aspects of supporting individuals with stomas, including the impact of diet on stoma health and how to change a stoma bag.
Learning objectives:
• Recognise parts of the anatomical structures of the urinary system
• Understand the NMC Code of Conduct with relation to catheterisation
• Discuss aspects of male and female urethral catheterisation
• Have awareness of how to care for Suprapubic Catheters
• Identify the different structures of the GI tract
• Identify different types of Stoma
• Gain knowledge why a Stoma may be needed
• Have an awareness of effects diet can have on a stoma
• Have an awareness of how to change a Stoma bag.
