HCPA are delighted to facilitate this course, delivered by Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service

This is an intensive one day training programme on basic NHS hearing aid maintenance, with practical ‘hands on’ practice for front-line staff.
*The course is only suitable for people with good manual (hand) dexterity*

Course description
This course is aimed at learners who want to learn and develop the practical skills required to confidently maintain a range of NHS hearing aids in a safe, caring and hygienic way that users appreciate. It will also show you how users can get the most from their hearing and supports a sense of belonging and social interaction

Learning Outcomes
• Re-tube, clean, reassemble and fit hearing aids correctly
• Manage/trouble-shoot common NHS hearing aid problems
• Build and instill residents own listening confidence
• Identify parts of the ear and the causes of deafness
• Understand audiology protocols and NHS battery supplies
• Use communication tactics effectively with hearing impaired people

There are three post course options:
Option 1: Learners leave aware and able to signpost people to NHS audiology
Option 2: Learners can purchase a ‘Hearing Aid’ tool kit
Option 3: Learners can sign up to be a ‘Hearing Aider’ volunteer and be supported by Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service with a free kit, free aftercare, free telephone support, quarterly newsletter, ID card, insurance, and free annual ‘Hearing Aiders’ event.
Note: It is the learner who is accredited, not the company.

Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service is an independent registered charity (RCN 1063430) offering over 40 years experience of providing practical help and advice to people affected by hearing loss.
We work in partnership with your local NHS Audiology Departments across the Eastern Region.

*Please note: As per our T&C’s, this course carries a fee in the event of non-attendance, non-completion or late cancellation.
Bookings of more than two delegates per site may be amended to allow access to all member organisations at the discretion of HCPA.
Delegates who are late may not be admitted into the training and a cost incurred
