The first edition of the Core and Essential Service Standards was published in November 2017. The Standards are designed to support and improve the lives of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), a minority who are often isolated and marginalised, by ensuring that they have access to consistent and high-quality support from any service provider throughout their life.
