This course provides an introduction to assessment, diagnosis and management of leg ulceration, and covers theoretical and practical training.
It is essential training for all Registered Nurses and Registered Nursing Associates who manage patients with leg ulceration.
It is highly recommend that staff complete wound care training before doing this course. There is an e-learning that staff can do at Wound Care Education for the Health and Care Workforce – elearning for healthcare (e-lfh.org.uk)
Following training, staff will be supported to complete their competencies. There are elements in practice around compression bandaging and carrying out doppler assessments that are competency based.

Anatomy and Physiology
Aetiology of Leg Ulcers
Holistic Assessment & Doppler Interpretation
Watch BP Demonstration
Practical: Manual Doppler
Day 2:
SystmOne, Referrals and Pathways
Introduction to Compression
Prevention of Leg Ulcer Recurrence
Practical Bandage Application
Practical Measuring for Hosiery & Wraps
