We are aware that there has been an increase in cases of scabies in social care settings recently. As such a scabies outbreak management action card has been produced by HCC public health team as a useful tool to navigate existing UKHSA guidance.
Hopefully this will help managers & social care staff during an outbreak of scabies in the setting. READ MORE
The action card details the process to follow to manage and control an outbreak of scabies . It provides detail for reporting the outbreak, contact details where you can access advice and support and advice for placing bulk orders for treatment for residents & staff and co- ordination of treatment.
It is hoped that this will help managers to understand how to purchase treatment where occupational exposure of staff has led to their need for treatment.
This document has been produced in line with national guidance UKHSA guidance on the management of scabies cases and outbreaks in long-term care facilities and other closed settings – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
